Roe V. Wade Prompts Telehealth Surge in Reproductive Care
In early May 2022, news broke that the Supreme Court is set to overturn Roe v. Wade, a landmark case that ensured access to abortion since 1973. This now means the decision to guarantee or restrict access to abortion will be controlled at a state level. The ramifications of this decision include many patients clamoring toward telehealth to ensure they can get their reproductive care needs met. The telehealth company ChoiceX specializes in mail-order abortion pills and the subsequent remote monitoring and has seen a 300% increase in demand. As the Roe v. Wade decision continues to play out, the industry might see more players in this space continue to grow, as well as higher, but more consistent levels of patient demand.
Overdose Deaths Prove Endemic in U.S.; New Record Set in 2021
According to results published by the CDC, more than 107,000 Americans died from drug overdoses last year, a new disheartening record for the country. That total averages to a death every 5 minutes and represents a 15 percent increase in overdose deaths since 2020. To change the course of this epidemic, the health industry will need to mobilize together to determine what’s causing these alarming rates of use and overdose and provide tailored solutions to their communities.
This article outlines what changes occurred in each state along opioid, synthetic, methadone, cocaine, heroin and psychostimulant drug use.

It ranks the evidence from low to moderate, giving a well-rounded idea of how clinicians might expect to see their patients’ health evolve during the program.
Telehealth Proves Powerful in Encouraging Minorities to Continue With Therapy

That’s why this one telehealth platform is seeking to use the service to help connect minority patients to providers who intend to use culturally-competent care with intention and to providers who do not fear topics with which they are unfamiliar.
